BioThis live journal is mostly a revolving dress diary around whatever project I'm working on at the moment. I'm a (relatively) recent transplant to Cleveland from the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been costuming since I was 15, first in the SCA and then in Theatre. My undergraduate degree is in costuming, so I've come to it from both a historical and a theatrical perspective. I did some graduate work at the Motley School of Design in London, but right now costuming is a hobby rather then a profession. By far the majority of my projects are historical in nature, as I like to have places to wear my outfits - what's the fun of making them if you can't show them off?!? :-) However, I've been flirting with fantasy costumes recently (it's rather relaxing to be able to just "make it up" rather then having to look it up) but I have far fewer venues to wear fantasy outfits. I am currently active in the Cleveland SCA group, the Barrony of the Cleftlands where I am known as Constanza de Mendoza.
In case anyone is wondering about my LJ title, "stuff" and "fustian" are both historical terms for specific fabrics, as well as meaning "worthless or foolish ideas, talk, writing or materials" and "pretentious or pompous speech or writing" respectively.
This journal is at least 50% costume related and the rest is personal. Feel free to friend me, if you're a costumer I'll probably friend you back.
